FVYBL 14U 2019 tryout Results
14UAA Tryout results

The players on the following lists have been selected for the 14UAA league and/or 14U tournament team.  A spring tryout will be held in early April to fill out the rosters.  Once this tryout is complete players will be placed on their 14UAA or 14UA team.  Coaches will be named as it gets closer to the season.

Players must be fully committed to the team before accepting a roster spot.  This commitment includes the following expectations:

--Players are expected to attend all practices and games
--Players are expected to be respectful to coaches, teammates, opponents and umpires.
--It is highly recommended that players do not play on multiple teams during the same season.  If a player decides to play on multiple teams (regardless of sport), the expectation is that their primary commitment will be given to Polar Bear Baseball during the baseball season.
--Practice attendance, performance, game availability, attitude and ability are all considered when determining playing time.

13U Tryout results

The players on the following list have been chosen based on tryouts for the 13UAA league teams and tournament teams.  Due to the depth of this class, GYS, HYS and the high school coaching staff have decided to evenly split into two teams that will play in the 13UAA league and in tournaments.  Each team will play 14 league games, the Bob Boots League tournament and in three more tournaments.  Keeping the teams together allows for consistent scheduling of practices where practice plans can be developed and followed, pitch count monitoring and instruction, and overall focus on development.  Players will also be available for practices and games with fewer conflicts, and will have more off days to rest and be a kid.

Players must be fully committed to the team before accepting a roster spot.  This commitment includes the following expectations:

--Players are expected to attend all practices, league games and tournaments
--Players are expected to be respectful to coaches, teammates, opponents and umpires.
--It is highly recommended that players do not play on multiple teams during the same season.  If a player decides to play on multiple teams (regardless of sport), the expectation is that their primary commitment will be given to Polar Bear Baseball during the baseball season.
--Practice attendance, performance, game availability, attitude and ability are all considered when determining playing time.

Coaches and tournaments will be announced as it gets closer to the season.  A spring tryout will be held in early April to fill out the teams.  Players will then be assigned to teams (AA or A) after the spring tryout.

Greenville Youth Sports (GYS) and Hortonville Youth Sports(HYS) combine players to play in the Fox Valley Youth Baseball League (FVYBL). The league consists of teams throughout the fox valley region where half of your games are played at home (either Greenville or Hortonville) and the other half at each of the respective teams home that are in your division. Most games are played weeknights at 5:30pm or later with some possibly on weekends early in the season. The regular season usually consists of 12-14 league games (depending on number of league teams) and usually starts late April, and ends by middle of July, with playoffs for the tops teams finishing by the end of July. GYS and HYS have no bearing on the league and just organize our teams to play there. All rules and policies are mandated by the FVYBL. Players will not be able to choose a team that they would prefer to play on as the teams are formed by a draft based on their level of ability.

Teams:

The FVYBL is set up in 6 different divisions. Depending on numbers, we typically have:
(2) 13U AA - highly competitive, 1 GYS sponsor, 1 HYS sponsor. Plays on intermediate 54'/80' sized fields (80ft bases)
(2) 14U AA - highly competitive, 1 GYS sponsor, 1 HYS sponsor. Plays on full 60'/90' baseball fields (90ft bases)
(2-3) 13U/14U A - less competitive, 2 GYS sponsors, 1 HYS sponsor. Plays on intermediate 54'/80' sized fields (80ft bases)
(1) 15U AA - highly competitive. They play on full 60'/90' baseball fields.
(1-2) 15U/16U A - less competitive. Sponsors TBD. Plays on full 60'/90' baseball fields.
(1?) 19U- competitive. An alternative to Legion. Plays on full 60'/90' baseball fields.

  • Sponsored teams will play the majority if not all of their home games at their respective parks.
  • 13 and 14u players are encouraged to attend the fall league and tournament team tryout to help determine which team they will play on. the AA teams will be divided equally with the balance playing in the A division.
  • Coaches for league teams will be assigned by GYS/HYS.
  • 15u AA team will be chosen by the Hortonville High School coaching staff.
  • 15/16u A team will consist of any 15u players that sign up and any 16u players that do not play JV legion baseball.

Uniforms:

All 13U and 14U players are expected to wear the same black "Polar Bear" cap (available at Fox Cities Embroidery) with white pants with black piping on the side of the leg. These same caps and pants will be worn for league and tournament ball. The jersey will be provided for you by the team. The 15U-19U teams will typically wear white pants and the jerseys will be provided for them.

Tournament Ball:

GYS/HYS will support at least one (Polar Bears) team for each 13U and 14U age group. The HHS coaching staff and GYS/HYS will choose coaches as well as offer input on team composition. A separate tryout will be held in August, with all league players being eligible to tryout. There may be an additional fee required to play tournament ball. There will be only one 15U tournament team will be chosen by the High School staff.

Spring Tryouts

There will be a Spring tryout to fill the final roster spots for the tournament team(s) and give those league only players that missed the fall tryout, a chance to compete for a spot on an AA team. Those players that attended the fall tryout and were either placed on a tournament team or do not wish to play tournament ball do not need to attend.  All players that sign up for league ball will be placed on a team regardless of if they attend a tryout or not.  The players will be assigned to teams a few days after the spring tryout.  The coaches will notify players of their team assignment.
