Welcome to Summer, and RJ Marx Softball team!
I am Justin Torud and will be coaching RJ Marx softball team this Summer. My daughter Kinsley is on the team, she is currently a 5th grader at GMS. You will also see my 13-year-old Son Camden at the ballpark, as well as my wife Mandy.
Really quick about me, I grew up near Eau Claire going to my Dad’s Fastpitch softball games. I played baseball through High School, and then played some old man Softball. I’ve coached Kinsley’s league and tournament teams the last few years. From a young age, I’ve loved being at the ballpark and being under the lights on the Diamond. Summer is a great time of year!
PRACTICES
I strongly believe in Station based practices – efficient use of field time for 1-hour practices; high repetitions, less standing and watching. I’m hoping to be able to run 3-5 stations per practice. I will rely a lot on my assistant coaches to help run stations during practice and collaborate strategies before, during, and after games. If you are interested in helping coach, PLEASE let me know!!! More information will be coming on our first practices!
COMMUNICATIONS – Sports Engine!
You should be receiving this in your e-mail via Sports Engine. I highly recommend downloading the Sports Engine ap. It has all our schedule information and is an easy way to communicate. That is what I’ll use if we have last minute rain outs for practices, games, etc. Let me know if you have questions!
THIS SATURDAY SCHEELS!
You’ve probably seen the e-mails sent about the event at Scheels this weekend. Junior League is scheduled from 11:30am to 12:30pm. But, I am coaching my Sons hockey game at 12:30p. Kinsley and I will be at Scheels handing out jerseys from 11:00am to 11:30am. Scheels is running a big sale, prior to handing out jerseys I’ll be spending money on new cleats Kinsley.
FINAL NOTE!
Lastly, I want the girls to have fun this Summer. I think back to baseball tournaments with my friends, they were lifelong memories. If there is ever something that is triggering them to say, “I don’t want to play softball,” please let me know! If something is wrong, I can’t fix it unless, I’m aware of it. Contact me by phone, e-mail, text, whatever method you want.

Thank you,
Justin Torud
